eCMID – Planned Downtime and January 2018 changes

The eCMID system will be unavailable for around 1 hour from 12:00 UTC on Wednesday 3 January 2018 while we implement the changes announced in our previous communications. Please plan any inspections around this time accordingly. Any inspections commenced prior to the update will automatically be upgraded by the new software version and will be uploadable once the update is in place, subject to point 3 below. Once the update is up and running, you will see a new website header, as follows:

Once the update is in place, inspectors will need to update the eCMID application (go to Help > Check for Updates). When the latest version is in place, the updated welcome screen will be as shown below:

End of paper CMID/MISW reports

  • As previously advised, from 1 January IMCA will only recognise formal inspection reports conducted using the eCMID application and uploaded into the eCMID database website.
  • Existing CMID inspections remain valid until their expiry date, including those produced outside the eCMID online system, but as they expire, new inspections will need to use the eCMID application.

Inspector AVI requirement

  • From 1 January, only Accredited Vessel Inspectors (AVIs) should upload inspection reports. The 3 January update will enforce this, so that only AVIs will be able to use the inspector functionality to conduct eCMID or eMISW inspections.
  • Those working towards AVI status will be able to be supervised by an existing AVI, who will authorise the uploading of the eCMID/eMISW report.
  • Inspector accounts will be updated by IIMS to show the AVI number and vessel supplements for which inspectors are accredited. This can only be done once the update is in place on 3 January, so we would ask for your patience. Please ensure that IIMS have the email address for your current eCMID account associated with your AVI record to avoid delays. If you have an urgent requirement to use the eCMID application on 3-4 January, please contact IIMS and they will do their best to add your AVI status as early as possible.
  • AVIs who work for more than one inspection company will need to ensure they have a stand-alone user account, as each AVI number can only be associated with a single email address. Those who currently have more than one user account with different companies should contact the eCMID helpdesk for assistance.
    Inspection companies will, from 3 January, be able to link with external inspectors for auditing/internal QA purposes in the same way that they have used company accounts until now.
